Homemade samsa with chicken - a step by step recipe

Samsa is a popular and very tasty oriental cuisine treat consisting of triangular puff pastry patties, usually filled with meat. The housewives mainly use lamb, beef or pork as a filling, but sometimes instead of the usual meat for samsa, a more dietary chicken is wrapped in the dough.

This recipe will tell you about cooking samsa with chicken and rice. This version of oriental pies due to chicken fillet will turn out to be less fatty, and therefore more dietary and healthy. It should be noted that a properly prepared chicken fillet filling will not make the dish dry, but on the contrary will give it special tenderness. The classic version of puff pastry is prepared a little differently, and we will consider a more simplified recipe for samsa with chicken and rice.

Homemade Chicken & Rice Samsa - Recipe Step by Step

First you need to prepare the dough. Pour flour into a bowl and add butter, cut into cubes.

Break 1 egg into another bowl, add water, 0.5 tsp. salt and vinegar. Mix well.

Grind the flour and butter with your hands into crumbs and pour in the previously obtained egg mixture. Knead the dough.

As a result, the consistency of the dough should be soft and elastic. Wrap the finished dough with foil and place in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.

While the dough is cooling, you need to prepare the filling for the samsa. Finely chop the chicken fillet.

Peel, rinse and chop onions finely.

Boil rice in lightly salted water until tender.

Combine chicken fillet, rice and onion. Season to taste.

After 40 minutes, remove the creamy samsa dough from the refrigerator. Roll the sausage out of a small amount of dough on a floured board. Cut it into equal parts (the size depends on personal preference depending on the desired size of the finished baked goods).

From each part, using a rolling pin, roll out round cakes 3-5 mm thick.

Put 1 tablespoon in the center of each cake. the resulting meat filling.

Bend the two lateral edges of the cakes, forming a triangle.

Pull up the third, bottom edge and connect tightly. Do the same with the rest of the test.

Put the resulting samsa on a greased baking sheet with the sealed edge down.

Brush samsa with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds on top. Send the baking sheet to the oven. Bake for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.

Serve ready-made homemade pies with chicken and rice to the table, it is best freshly baked and hot.
