Lenten borsch

A simple recipe for making delicious lean borscht.

Cooking time 30 minutes


Water 2, 5 l

Potatoes 3-4 pcs

Carrot 1 pc

Beet 1 pc

Onion 1 pc

Vegetable oil 2 tbsp. l.

Tomato paste 2 tbsp l.

Bay leaf 2 pcs

Garlic clove 2 pcs

Dill (greens) 1 bunch

Salt to taste


Peel potatoes and onions.

Place diced potatoes in a saucepan, add water and cook.

Peel carrots and beets. Fry onions, carrots and beets in a frying pan in vegetable oil.

Fry vegetables for 3-4 minutes.

Add chopped cabbage to a saucepan with half-prepared potatoes.

Add the sautéed vegetables and cook over medium heat for 10-12 minutes.

Season with salt, add tomato paste, finely chopped dill and chopped garlic.

Cook for 2-3 minutes and remove from heat.

Lean borscht is ready. Pour into plates and serve.
