Chowder "Russian Lenten"

Russian Lenten Chowder, a traditional recipe that can be easily prepared in Lent.

Cooking time 50 minutes


Potatoes 2-3 pcs

Carrot 1 pc

Sauerkraut 200 g

Water 1 l

Sunflower oil 3 tbsp. l.

Onion 1 pc

Barley groats 100 g

Parsley (greens) barley groats 10 g

Salt to taste


Cut the potatoes and carrots into cubes.

Finely chop the onion and fry in sunflower oil.

Boil water, add potatoes, carrots and cook until half cooked.

Add cereals and cook for another 10-15 minutes.

Add overcooked onions. Add sauerkraut and cook for another 10 minutes over low heat.

Salt. Add finely chopped greens. Serve hot.
