Home-style lightly salted herring is a simple and very affordable recipe for making delicious home-style lightly salted herring.

Herring 3 pcs

Water 1 l

Salt 2 tbsp l.

Sugar 1 tsp

Bay leaf 2-3 pcs

Cloves 3-5 pcs

Allspice peas 5-7 pcs

Red onion 1-2 pcs

Green onions to taste

Unrefined sunflower oil to taste


Rinse and dry the fish well.

Remove heads.

Add sugar and salt to the water.

Add spices.

Boil the marinade well and cool.

Put the fish in a deep dish and pour over the cold marinade.

Put in the cold for 2 days.

After 2 days, remove the fish from the marinade.

Peel and cut into slices. Fold the fish pieces into a jar with rings and green onions. Cover with vegetable oil and store in the refrigerator.

Put on a dish before serving, remove bones from the fish if desired.

Home-style lightly salted herring is ready. Can be served at the table.
