Boyar-style baked pork ham in the oven

Boyar style baked pork ham in the oven is a dish for those who want to surprise their dear guests and prepare a festive dish in the best traditions of Russian cuisine.

Pork leg (2 kg) 1 piece

Sauerkraut 300 g

Water (in a baking dish) 300-400 ml

Onion 1 pc

Carrots 1 ml

A clove of garlic 5-6 pcs

Unrefined sunflower oil TM "Aleika" 3 tbsp. l.

Pork spices 2 tbsp l.

Salt 1 tbsp l.

Prepare a pork leg weighing about 2 kilograms. Cut off the skin, remove the veins.

Mix 1 tablespoon salt and 1 tablespoon pork spice.

Grate well the pork ham with the mixture, make cuts and insert 5-6 slices of chopped garlic cloves.

Cover the meat with cling film or a bag and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.

Cover with water and leave for 1 hour.

Rinse the barley.

Peel the onions and carrots, finely chop the onion, grate the carrots. Fry vegetables in 3 tablespoons of TM "Aleika" natural sunflower oil.

Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes.

In a bowl, mix pearl barley with fried vegetables, add 1/2 tablespoon of salt.

Put a layer of pearl barley with vegetables in a large form.

Add a layer of 300 grams of sauerkraut on top.

Put the ham on top and add 300 milliliters of water.

Make a "lid" of foil and place in the oven.

Cook for 2-2.5 hours at 180 degrees C.

Put barley with cabbage on a dish. The ham can be cut into portions in advance or done on the table.
